The 1-Step Challenge is one evaluation step with a 5% profit target, a one-time fee from €98 to €1,370, and the same loss limits as every other Eiger program. Reach 5% of the account size without a breach, with at least 5 trading days and 5 closed trades, and the funded account opens.
Key takeaways
- One step, target 5% of the account size, no deadline.
- 5% max daily loss and 12% max overall drawdown while you evaluate.
- One-time fee: €98 / €208 / €390 / €735 / €1,370, paid in full at checkout.
- Pay After You Pass is the same evaluation at the same full fee. The only difference is when you pay.
What do you have to do to pass?
Four conditions, all on the Challenge programs table of the trading rules page:
- Profit of 5% of the account size.
- At least 5 trading days, meaning distinct UTC calendar days on which a trade was closed or a position was open.
- At least 5 closed trades.
- No breach of any rule along the way.
The order does not matter. If you reach 5% on your third trading day, the step is not passed until the fifth trading day and fifth closed trade are also there. Meanwhile every rule still applies, including the loss limits, so the account can still fail between reaching the target and completing the minimum activity.
The one-day profit share can also make the pass wait. No single day may make up more than 50% of total profit. If one day does, the step is not passed until profit is spread across more days. That never fails the account.
There is no deadline. The one clock is the 5-day inactivity rule: more than 5 days (full 24-hour periods, weekends included) without opening or closing a trade fails the account. The home page puts it as placing one trade every 5 days to keep the account active. See no time limit and the inactivity rule.
What else can end the step?
The loss limits are the rules people think about first, but they are not the only ones that apply during the step. The site says every rule on the trading rules page applies while you evaluate, and only the drawdown limits are wider. So during a 1-Step evaluation, a position with no stop-loss 10 minutes after opening breaches. So does a position still open past 22:00 UTC, opening or closing during the 22:00 to 23:00 UTC rollover window, opening or closing within 30 minutes before or after a high-impact release for either currency of the symbol, or holding over the weekend. The prohibited strategies apply too: closed trades held under 3 seconds, more than 5 positions open at once on one symbol, more than 3 size-ups in a row after a loss, and opposing positions on the same symbol.
Any one of them fails the account, with no warning. What a breach means for the account, and what you can do next, is in what happens when you breach.
A worked example on a €10,000 account
The fee is €98, paid once.
| Profit target | €500 | 5% of €10,000. |
|---|---|---|
| Daily limit | €500 | 5% of €10,000, on closed and floating positions within one trading day. |
| Overall limit | €1,200 | 12% of €10,000 while you evaluate, trailed from peak equity. |
| Restart | €49 | Half the fee, once, if the step ends by a breach or by inactivity. |
Once funded, the same account works to 3% daily (€300) and 6% overall (€600), trailed from peak equity. A payout request needs at least 10% profit, €1,000, along with the other conditions on the rules page. The switch is covered in evaluation vs funded rules.
How is it different from Pay After You Pass?
Only in how you pay. The rules page describes Pay After You Pass as "the 1-Step Challenge fee, with 13% due at checkout on the 10K size, 10% on the 25K and 20% on 50K and up". The step, the target, the limits, the minimum activity, the restart and the reward are identical.
On the €10,000 size that means:
| 1-Step Challenge | €98 | All at checkout. The funded account opens when you pass. |
|---|---|---|
| Pay After You Pass | €12.74 | At checkout. €85.26 after you pass, with no deadline. The funded account opens the day it is paid. |
With the 1-Step, once you pass, nothing stands between you and the funded account. With Pay After You Pass, there is a second payment first, and if you do not pass you never make it. The Pay After You Pass side is explained in how Pay After You Pass works.
How is it different from the 2-Step Challenge?
The 2-Step has a lower one-time fee at every size, and asks you to reach 5% twice. The 1-Step asks once and costs more. The daily and overall limits are the same on both.
There is one more difference that follows from the step count. The restart covers the first step of any program. On the 1-Step, the first step is the only step, so a breach or an inactivity failure at any point in the evaluation can be restarted once at half the fee. On the 2-Step, a failure in Step 2 cannot. Compare them in the 2-Step Challenge explained.
What does it cost at each size?
| €10,000 | €98 | Target €500. Restart €49. |
|---|---|---|
| €25,000 | €208 | Target €1,250. Restart €104. |
| €50,000 | €390 | Target €2,500. Restart €195. |
| €100,000 | €735 | Target €5,000. Restart €367.50. |
| €200,000 | €1,370 | Target €10,000. Restart €685. |
The fee is for software: the account, the eTrader platform and the system that checks your trades against the rules. It is not a deposit and not an investment, and the site says it is one-time with no subscription.
One step, one fee, and the restart covers the whole evaluation.
Frequently asked questions
Is the 1-Step target higher than a 2-Step step?
No. Every program uses a 5% target per step. The 1-Step has one step, the 2-Step has two.
Are the loss limits tighter on the 1-Step?
No. All three programs use 5% daily and 12% overall during the evaluation, per the trading rules.
Can I switch from the 1-Step to Pay After You Pass?
The site does not describe switching programs on an account you already bought. Ask support through a ticket in the client portal.
Is the fee refunded when I pass?
The site does not say so for the 1-Step. The refund with the first reward is described for the checkout amount on Pay After You Pass only.
Read the rules, then pick a program
Every rule that can fail an account is published in full before you pay. Three programs, five sizes, an 80% reward and no time limit on any step.
